KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) Mid-Term Review in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Sept 11).
During the presentation, Anwar stated that 31% of the 175 targets outlined in the 12MP, which was tabled on Oct 21, 2021, have been accomplished, while 59% are still on track.
A total budget of RM400 billion was allocated for the 12th MP. However, Anwar announced an additional RM15 billion will be included, resulting in a total allocation of RM415 billion for the government’s five-year development plan.
“The additional funds will be utilized to meet the people’s needs, enhance management quality, and provide targeted subsidies,” he explained.
Anwar revealed that RM64.3 billion was expended in 2021, and an additional RM71.6 billion was spent in 2022.
Furthermore, he mentioned that approximately RM90 billion will be spent from this year until 2025.
The Dewan Rakyat has organized a six-day special session to review the plan, which commenced on Monday.
This is the first time the mid-term review has been presented by the unity government since coming into power after GE15 on November 19.
