KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his assurance that he will investigate and expedite the repair of school toilets for the well-being of the students. In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed his gratitude to a nine-year-old student named Maryam who wrote him a letter highlighting the poor condition of the toilets at her school. Anwar promised to work harder and faster to resolve this issue in order to ensure the children’s well-being.
In his post, Anwar also shared Maryam’s handwritten letter, where she referred to him as ‘Uncle Anwar’. During the presentation of the Budget 2024, which was themed “Economic Reform, Empowering the People”, the Prime Minister announced that the toilet repair project in 8,354 schools would be almost completed by the end of this year. He emphasized that it is unacceptable for children to have to endure damaged and dilapidated toilets in school.
