PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged young people to be able to distinguish between honest leaders and the corrupt. In anticipation of the upcoming six state elections, Anwar called on the younger generation to help protect Malaysia from dishonest leaders.

Speaking at the “Temu Anwar: Selangor X Belia P-Hailing” dialogue on Saturday (July 22), Anwar highlighted that no cases of corruption involving his Cabinet members have been reported in the last eight months, according to the authorities.

He emphasized the importance of not allowing themselves to be manipulated by others and encouraged support for leaders who are not thieves. Anwar firmly stated that if any ministers or chief ministers are found involved in corruption, they will be sent to Sungai Buloh Prison.

Anwar further questioned the retired ministers who now speak about the Malays and Islam, asking if they are willing to return the money they took. He emphasized that taking money illegitimately is unacceptable, and urged the youth to save Malaysia from such corruption.

Addressing the sedition charges against caretaker Kedah mentri besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Anwar expressed that Sanusi should have been aware of his limits and handled matters appropriately.

He clarified that he did not order the police to arrest Sanusi and stated that blaming him for Sanusi’s troubles is unfair. Anwar urged Sanusi to face the consequences of his actions.

The upcoming state elections in Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, and Selangor will be held on August 12, with the nomination scheduled for July 29.
