According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will consider the qualifications of individuals to hold appropriate positions in the event of a Cabinet reshuffle.
Fadillah, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister, stated that he has not been involved in any discussions regarding a potential reshuffle. He mentioned that the decision to reshuffle the Cabinet rests solely with the Prime Minister, and Anwar will assess whether a ministry is suitable for an individual based on their skills and knowledge.
He further elaborated that Anwar will need to find ministers who can cooperate and fulfill their responsibilities effectively if he decides to form a new Cabinet. Fadillah made these remarks during an event to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Kuching on Saturday (Dec 2).
On the previous day, Anwar had hinted that a Cabinet reshuffle could potentially occur before 2024. Fadillah, who is the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Chief Whip, expressed the coalition’s support for a unity government to ensure political stability in Malaysia and to strengthen the national economy.
He emphasized the priority of stable politics and a strong government, while also highlighting the coalition’s policy to be investor-friendly. In addition, Fadillah mentioned that his parliamentary service center would collaborate with the non-governmental organization Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (Yakin) to organize programs aimed at promoting TVET at the school level.
He specifically mentioned that the focus would be on the state assembly areas under the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency, including Tupong, Satok, and Samariang. Fadillah assured his support for the planning and implementation of such programs throughout the next year. These statements were reported by Bernama.
