The damaged lane on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near Ukay Perdana heading towards Ampang, Selangor was reopened on Wednesday (Sept 6) night.

The Public Works Department (JKR) said in a statement on its official Facebook page that the repairs were completed at 8pm and that the affected lane was accessible to motorists again.

Earlier on Wednesday, a sinkhole appeared on the second lane of the highway, believed to have been caused by a broken culvert underneath the road.

Part of the lane, about 10m around the hole, was subsequently closed off for repairs by JKR.

The incident that was reported at 8am caused massive traffic congestion along the MRR2, stretching up to 2km from the sinkhole site.

The JKR had also dispatched staff members to regulate the traffic flow.

Earlier, reports about the incident circulated on WhatsApp, warning motorists to avoid the area and use the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway as an alternative route.

    No casualties were reported.
