Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng has announced that first-year university students from Sibu will receive a one-time financial assistance of RM1,000. Chieng, who considers education as a top priority, aims to provide various incentives to students to ensure they can continue their studies. In addition to rewarding students with outstanding SPM, STPM, and UEC results, Chieng has also introduced this financial aid for those pursuing higher education.
The financial aid is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and will be given out in batches. It is available for first-year students who were admitted to public and private higher education institutions in 2022, and whose SPM, STPM, or UEC examinations were taken in the same year. The students and their parents must be residents of the Bukit Assek constituency.
Applicants under 18 must have their IC addresses within the Bukit Assek state constituency. To qualify for the financial aid, the applicant’s family must be classified as B40, with a total household income of less than RM3,170.
To apply for the financial aid, students can visit Chieng’s Bukit Assek service centre or contact 084-313 566 for further assistance.
