KUALA LUMPUR: The Auditor-General’s Report on Federal Agencies 2022 revealed that only 66 out of the 212 subsidiary companies of federal agencies paid dividends to the government in 2022. The total dividends paid amounted to RM1.91 billion.
The audit focused on 130 financial statements of federal agencies, examining various aspects such as current account balances, assets and liabilities, grants received from federal agencies, liabilities, and investments.
According to the report, ten federal agencies reported the highest loan balances, totaling RM122.388 billion. Out of these ten agencies, four had outstanding loan repayments amounting to RM5.338 billion from the Federal Government. However, three of these agencies had restructured their loan repayments.
The total investments from 53 federal agencies with 234 subsidiaries amounted to RM56.128 billion. Of these subsidiaries, 212 were active while 22 were dormant.
Out of the active subsidiaries, 121 reported profits while 91 reported losses. Only 66 out of the 212 active subsidiaries had paid dividends to federal agencies in 2022, totaling RM1.91 billion.
Moreover, 80 agencies reported a current account surplus of RM54.677 billion, while 50 federal agencies reported a deficit of RM4.57 billion.
Furthermore, the report indicated that 126 agencies reported higher assets over liabilities, while four reported higher liabilities. The findings of the report were tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (March 6).
