PETALING JAYA: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli and PAS assistant secretary-general Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman have agreed to participate in a debate session after Syahir initially declined Rafizi’s invitation. The debate is scheduled to take place on Aug 9, with further details to be announced soon.
Rafizi expressed his gratitude, stating that Syahir accepted his invitation to debate after obtaining approval from his top leadership. He also added that the debate would provide an opportunity for the parties to present their ideas and proposals to the people. Rafizi made this announcement on his Twitter account on Tuesday (Aug 1).
On July 31, Syahir, who is the Bachok MP, declined Rafizi’s debate invitation, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
In a letter addressed to Rafizi, Syahir stated, “It is better to focus our time and energy on working and serving the people to solve the various issues and duties that await us. In this matter, I agree with my older brother, Sanusi.”
Rafizi took a dig at Perikatan Nasional leaders on July 31 for declining his invitation to debate on economic matters. Rafizi had invited prominent members of the coalition, including Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Sanusi, and Syahir, but they all turned down the challenge.
The Pandan MP also claimed that the leaders of Perikatan lacked ideas or economic plans, as evidenced by the states under their administration. Rafizi emphasized that ruling is not just about having power but also about the responsibility to improve the lives of the people.
