GOMBAK: Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has announced that his decision to contest in the Hulu Kelang seat in Selangor was made by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
Speaking to reporters after submitting his nomination at the SMK Sungai Pusu in Gombak, Selangor, Azmin stated, “I am a party man. So the party has decided. The president (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) is here. They want me to participate.”
Azmin further emphasized his support for the party’s decision by saying, “As a party man, I have to support the decision of the party.”
When asked if he was prepared for the elections, the Selangor Perikatan Nasional chief confidently replied, “I am more than 100% ready.”
This will mark Azmin’s return to familiar ground as he previously contested in the Hulu Kelang constituency 24 years ago in 1999.
His rival in the upcoming election will be Juwairiya Zulkifli, who served as the political secretary to Azmin’s former protege, caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
All candidates for the Hulu Kelang, Gombak Setia, and Sungai Tua seats will be submitting their nominations at the SMK Sungai Pusu in Gombak.
The nomination period closed at 10 am.
