In Ayer Tawar, Manjung, a male infant was discovered inside a bag near a drain behind a shophouse. Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah stated that a 45-year-old man found the baby around 8pm on Saturday (Nov 25) and promptly reported the matter to the police.
The baby has been transferred to the Seri Manjung Hospital and is currently in the neonatal intensive care unit, according to ACP Mohamed Nordin. He also mentioned that the doctor’s examination revealed no external injuries and the baby is in good health. The hospital and Social Welfare Department officials are closely monitoring the situation,” as stated in a release.
According to ACP Mohamed Nordin, the case has been categorized under Section 317 of the Penal Code. He warned that anyone found to have deliberately abandoned their children under 12 could face up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both if found guilty.
