Two cases involving infants, one resulting in death and the other in critical condition, have been recorded by the police in Melaka.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit stated that in the first case, a two-month-old girl died at Melaka Hospital.

The infant, who is the youngest of five siblings, was rushed to the hospital by her 26-year-old mother residing in the flats at Taman Melaka Raya.

According to Patit, the baby went to sleep after being fed at 11pm on Tuesday (Oct 31) and her mother noticed that she was not breathing when she woke up at 5am on Wednesday (Nov 1).

In an attempt to save her, the mother took the unconscious child to Melaka Hospital at 6.30am but unfortunately, the efforts were in vain.

Patit added that medical officers found no other injuries on the baby and the case has been classified as sudden death.

The second case involves a toddler who is in critical condition after attending a nursery in Taman Pertam Jaya.

The incident came to the attention of the police when the one-year-old baby boy was rushed to Melaka Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Patit mentioned that the father, receiving a call from the nursery owner at 9.30am, was informed that his son had a seizure while being bathed by a childminder.

The father promptly went to the nursery and immediately brought his son to the hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the child was unconscious and was promptly taken to the emergency ward.

Patit disclosed that the childminder claimed that the toddler fell at the nursery on Oct 27 and suffered swelling on his forehead.
