A leader from the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing has called on the state Opposition to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the Jepak by-election. According to Jepak PBB Youth chairman Mohamad Asraf Mohammed Tudin, the people of the state have already expressed their confidence in GPS during the December 2021 state election. He highlighted that GPS won 76 out of the 82 seats at stake, indicating the people’s trust in the coalition’s governance, transparency, internal checks and balances, and other practices.
Mohamad Asraf made this statement on Friday (Sept 29) and emphasized the importance of maintaining strength and stability for the welfare of Sarawak’s children. He urged the Opposition in Sarawak to support GPS, as it would ensure a strong voice in the fight for Sarawak’s rights. The Election Commission has scheduled Oct 21 for nominations and Nov 4 for polling for the Jepak by-election, which was triggered by the death of assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip on Sept 15. Talib Zulpilip had held the Jepak seat since 1996.
