A man from Bangladesh has been formally charged with the murder of another Bangladeshi national two weeks ago. The accused, Mohammad Mokul Hossain, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia. However, due to a language barrier, Hossain did not comprehend the charge when it was read to him in Bahasa Malaysia. As murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court, no plea was recorded during this initial court appearance.
The charge alleges that Hossain committed the murder of Hossen Md Monowar on September 8th. The incident occurred in the town of Lenggong, located in the Hulu Perak district along Jalan Kuak Pekan Kuak between 7pm and 8pm. The charge is filed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
In light of the language barrier issue, Magistrate Mohd Shazmeer Zamhari has scheduled an appointment for an interpreter at the Lenggong Magistrate’s Court on October 20th. This will enable effective communication between Hossain and the court during future proceedings.
During the hearing, Deputy Public Prosecutor Sufi Aiman Azmi represented the prosecution, while the accused did not have legal representation.
Earlier reports mentioned the discovery of a man’s body in a banana plantation near Kuak, Lenggong on September 8th. It was subsequently confirmed that the deceased individual was Hossen Md Monowar.
