Kuala Pilah: Barisan Nasional, led by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, has announced its intention to contest in 17 seats during the upcoming state elections in Negeri Sembilan. Mohamad, who is also the Barisan elections director, revealed that out of these seats, 16 were previously won in the 14th General Election, while the remaining seat, Lenggeng, is currently held by Suhaimi Kassim from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah). It has been agreed by the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council president, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, that the Lenggeng seat will also be given to Barisan to contest. Mohamad expressed his confidence in Barisan’s ability to win all the seats with their well-prepared election campaign and support from the election machineries of Johor and Melaka.
In the upcoming state elections, Amanah has announced its intention to contest in three seats in Negeri Sembilan, namely Klawang, Lenggeng, and Paroi. In the previous 14th General Elections, Pakatan Harapan, led by Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, emerged victorious in 20 out of the 36 state seats in Negeri Sembilan, with 11 seats won by DAP, six by PKR, and three by Amanah. Barisan, on the other hand, secured 16 seats, with 15 won by Umno and one by MIC. – Bernama
