PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional intends to continue supporting the unity government, as it represents the true essence of Malaysia, according to coalition chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the president of Umno, expressed his hope that the relationship between Barisan and Pakatan Harapan would foster a sense of unity for the betterment of the nation.

“I witnessed DAP’s determination to uphold the unity of our country through two speeches given by its secretary-general Anthony Loke and chairman Lim Guan Eng,” he stated in a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 10) after participating in the DAP annual conference in Putrajaya.
“This determination was also evident in the delegates I encountered at the conference, who were eager for political stability to drive further success for Malaysia,” he added.

“Loke also emphasized that the unity government is inclusive and represents all Malaysians.
“In fact, he highlighted the importance of resolving political differences and employing unity as the foundation to reconstruct our nation together, especially in terms of economic development and the well-being of our people,” Ahmad Zahid remarked.
“I aspire to see the newly established relationship between Barisan and Pakatan being strengthened at the grassroots level, in order to cultivate the spirit of unity while leading the country and providing optimal service to all Malaysians,” he concluded.

“Barisan Nasional will also continue to defend the unity government, which truly represents the essence of Malaysia,” he asserted.
Other prominent figures present at the conference were Barisan secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, and Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin.
