    Bartender jailed for damaging cars

    A 22-year-old bartender named Shaz Erfan Adril Abdul Jalil has been sentenced to one year and six months in jail for committing mischief and damaging properties. Shaz Erfan Adril pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 427 of the Penal Code before Magistrates’ Court judge Siti Nora Sharif on Friday (Oct 6). The judge ordered him to serve his jail term starting from the day of his arrest on Oct 5.

    One of the charges against Shaz Erfan Adril involved intentionally splashing red paint, pasting a notice, and breaking a car window parked outside a house on Jalan Menglembu Impiana 9, Taman Menglembu Impiana Adril in the early hours of Aug 19. The act caused the victim approximately RM1,000 in losses.

    In the second charge, it was stated that the accused committed the same offense at the same address on two different cars, resulting in RM1,000 in damages on Aug 26.

    Shaz Erfan’s lawyer, Kathan Maruthamuthu, who is affiliated with the National Legal Aid Foundation, revealed that the accused is single and lives alone. The lawyer also disclosed that Shaz had previously served time in jail.

    The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Nabilah Norzam.
