Two yachts sustained damage on Sunday morning when a barter trade boat collided with the Royal Selangor Yacht Club jetty in Port Klang due to engine failure.
According to Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director (operations) Maritime Commander Mohd Sharenliza Ghazali, the incident occurred at around 7am, prompting the MMEA’s Benteng 02 boat to respond to the scene after being alerted to the crash.
The KLM Maulana Hasil Abadi, a barter trade boat from Indonesia with 15 crew members, experienced engine failure as it was departing Asa Niaga Jetty.
As a result, the boat lost control and collided with the Royal Selangor Yacht Club jetty. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, and the boat was subsequently brought to Fulsail Jetty.
Maritime Commander Mohd Sharenliza Ghazali also issued a reminder to the public, especially those in the maritime community, to prioritize safety and thoroughly inspect their boats before embarking on sailing trips or engaging in any sea-related activities to avoid similar incidents in the future.- Bernama
