On Tuesday (Nov 28), the Dewan Rakyat saw a surprising declaration of support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from another Perikatan Nasional lawmaker, causing an eruption in the parliament hall.
Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (PN-Bukit Gantang) stated his readiness to offer his expertise to the unity government in order to improve economic conditions and establish a Madani society.
He called for leaders from different factions, including Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Pagoh) and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Bera), to come together with Tambun (Anwar) to work on building a Madani society.
In a surprising move, he also urged the Opposition to engage in proper negotiations with the government, drawing attention to the style of engagement employed by the former prime minister, Bera.
Expressing his willingness to assist the government in constructing the Madani society and addressing the rising cost of living, he took both ruling and opposition MPs by surprise with his unexpected remarks.
Before this, Syed Abu Hussin had asked Anwar if he was willing to accept more lawmakers from the Opposition to join hands with him in prioritising the welfare of the rakyat.
His declaration in the August House made him the fifth Bersatu lawmaker to pledge support for Anwar, following the footsteps of Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain, Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, and Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim.
