Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa has advised the public to be patient and wait for the official statement from the Pardons Board regarding the outcome of the royal pardon appeal for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
During the launch of the 50th Federal Territories Day, she told reporters to “Just be patient,” without specifying when the statement would be released.
On the previous day, several Cabinet ministers declined to comment on the outcome of Najib’s appeal for a royal pardon.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the Cabinet only briefly discussed Najib’s appeal and emphasized that the decision to grant a pardon to Najib is not within the Cabinet’s jurisdiction.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, at a separate press conference, urged the media to wait for an official announcement regarding the outcome of the appeal without jumping to conclusions.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year sentence for abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering in connection to RM42mil from SRC International, a former 1MBD subsidiary. He was also fined RM210mil. He is also facing charges of abusing power to the tune of RM2.28bil, which is believed to be 1MDB funds.
