Berjaya Land Bhd has denied all allegations made by Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over the Selangor Maritime Gateway project, stating that the claims were politically motivated and slanderous. This denial comes in response to remarks made by Sanusi during his speech at the Jelajah Mega PN Best Sayangi Kedah Sejahtera event held in Jitra, Kedah on Aug 2. The CEO of Berjaya Land Bhd, Syed Ali Shahul Hameed, expressed concern that Sanusi’s statements portrayed both his company and the Selangor government in a negative light by insinuating questionable dealings. Syed Ali confirmed that Berjaya Land would be lodging a police report and pursuing legal action to defend their rights.
Syed Ali criticized Sanusi’s speech, calling it “plainly false, untrue, unwarranted, unsubstantiated, malicious and mischievous.” He labelled the accusations made against Berjaya Land as slanderous and without merit. In response to these allegations, Syed Ali released a statement on Friday, offering a point-by-point response to correct any inaccurate or misleading statements and to ensure that the truth was made clear.
Amidst these allegations, caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari also denounced Sanusi’s remarks and announced his intention to take legal action against him. Amirudin categorically denied all allegations made by Sanusi and dismissed his speech as an attempt to divert attention from the rare earth elements (REE) scandal.
