Two Malaysian Members of Parliament, Tanjong Karang MP Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi and Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Syed Abdul Fasal, have voluntarily requested to change their seating arrangement away from the Opposition bloc, as confirmed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Johari emphasized that MPs have the freedom to request such changes for various reasons.
He stated, “I will not prevent anyone from requesting to change their seating positions. As long as they write to me, I can consider their request.”
He added, “There are also new MPs who may have seniority within the party, and I am open to entertaining such requests for seat changes.”
These remarks were made in response to a query by Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Baru), who inquired about the seating changes of the Bersatu MPs.
Among the six Bersatu MPs who expressed support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, besides Zulkafperi and Syed Abu Hussin, are Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan).
According to the Parliament website, Zulkafperi, Syed Abu Hussin, Zahari, Mohd Azizi, and Suhaili have all relocated their seats away from the Opposition bloc.
They are now situated a row behind Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who had previously withdrawn his support for Anwar’s administration.
Currently, only Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain remains seated among other Perikatan MPs.
