PETALING JAYA: The Bersatu disciplinary board has suspended Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid from the party for four years.
Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the Kuala Kangsar MP had violated Article 22.1(f) of the party’s constitution, leading to his suspension.
Last month, Iskandar expressed his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership, particularly in efforts to boost the country’s economy and address the increasing cost of living.
This move sparked controversy among Iskandar’s colleagues, with some alleging that he had been pressured into supporting Anwar.
“After a thorough examination of the evidence, the gravity of the offense, its implications, impact on the party, as well as his show-cause letter, the disciplinary board committee has found Iskandar guilty,” said Hamzah in a statement released on Saturday (Nov 4).
As a result, Iskandar has been officially suspended as a Bersatu member for a duration of four years, effective from November 3.
