JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated that the Higher Education Ministry has not received the alleged new guidelines regarding concerts on university campuses. The Higher Education Minister expressed his preference for the guidelines to be prepared by the student councils themselves, eliminating the need for external guidelines.
Addressing the issue, Khaled Nordin highlighted that the Higher Education Department has not presented the alleged guidelines to him yet. He stated that he has not read or approved anything related to it. Emphasizing his focus on empowering university students, he expressed his desire for them to set their own guidelines. Hence, he is awaiting their submission.
Khaled Nordin made these remarks during a meeting with reporters after attending the community college advisors appointment letter handover ceremony at the Holiday Villa Hotel in Johor Baru on Friday (Sept 1).
He commented on the alleged Guidelines for Entertainment Activities (Concerts) in Higher Education Institutions, which were posted on the Facebook page of the Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany). According to the document, concert attendees are expected to adhere to a modest dress code, specifically avoiding clothing featuring Illuminati, pro-LGBT, or pornographic symbols, as well as “punk” hairstyles.
The document also strictly prohibits mosh pits and requires segregated seating arrangements for male and female audiences.
