There have been reports of misleading advertisements circulating on social media platforms, promoting a fraudulent get-rich-quick investment scheme and falsely implicating Malaysian singer Datuk Sheila Majid.
The deceptive ads contain a headline alleging that the Bank of Malaysia is suing Sheila Majid for statements made on a live TV show.
Sheila Majid addressed the situation on her Instagram accounts, stating, “I have never been involved in any of these alleged investments (nor should any of you).” She warned her followers to avoid participating in the scam scheme advertised in the fake article.
It is important to refrain from engaging with these fraudulent social media pages or suspicious ads, and to avoid joining the programs they are promoting.
If you come across such misleading content, you can report it by clicking on the ellipsis (…) symbol on the top right of the ad or page, and selecting the exclamation point symbol next to “Find support or report.”
A pop-up window will appear with the option to choose “Pretending to be something” and then select “A business” to report the deceptive ad.
