Seven additional undocumented migrants who fled from the Bidor Immigration detention center have been apprehended, according to Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
On Wednesday (Feb 7), seven Rohingya individuals were captured at a Felcra plantation on Jalan Kachu, Tapah around 3pm.
“We have now recaptured a total of 98 of the escapees.
“The police managed to detain 73 while the Immigration Department captured 25.
“As of now, there are still 31 individuals who are at large,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Individuals with any information regarding the escaped detainees are urged to report to the Tapah police at 05-401 1222 or the nearest police station,” he added.
The incident, which took place on Feb 1 at 9:50pm, saw a total of 131 detainees, including 115 Rohingya, 15 Myanmar nationals and one Bangladeshi, escape from the men’s block of the depot during a riot.
Two individuals were killed in accidents on the North-South Expressway.
