TAPAH: 56 escapees re-arrested as of 2pm on Monday (Feb 5) from the Bidor Immigration Depot have included two more undocumented migrants who were captured while walking in the Felda Sungai Klah oil palm plantation in Sungkai, bringing the total number of re-arrests to 56.
Perak police chief Comm Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri informed Bernama that the two Rohingya male detainees, aged 18 and 23, were apprehended by the Sungkai task force and police patrols.
The captured detainees were brought to the lock-up of the Sungkai police station and the Tapah police headquarters for interrogation before being handed over to the Immigration Department.
On Thursday, 131 undocumented migrants escaped from the men’s block of the Bidor Depot around 9:50 pm, resulting in two of them losing their lives in road accidents.
Meanwhile, 73 of the undocumented migrants are still on the run, but Comm Mohd Yusri stated that police believe they are mostly still around Tapah and Bidor based on the investigation of the recaptured detainees.- Bernama
