KOTA KINABALU: Tragedy struck in Inanam early Sunday (July 16) as a 24-year-old man lost his life in a motorcycle accident. The incident occurred on Jalan Tuaran when the victim, identified as Aidimen Leminggu, collided with a dog and was subsequently run over by his friend who was riding alongside him.
Aidimen was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers, while his 19-year-old friend suffered hand injuries as a result of the collision. Sadly, the dog did not survive the crash.
According to Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, preliminary investigations revealed that Aidimen and his friend were heading home after finishing work in Kolombong. CCTV footage from a nearby gas station showed both motorcyclists in the middle lane, with Aidimen slightly ahead of his friend.
It appears that Aidimen lost control of his motorcycle and veered into the right lane after colliding with the dog. Tragically, his friend was unable to avoid hitting Aidimen, who was lying on the road.
Following the accident, Aidimen’s body was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police are continuing their investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
