PETALING JAYA: Controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin has passed away in the United Kingdom. He was 74.
His death was reportedly confirmed by his brother, Raja Idris.
“It is with great sadness that I am informing you that Raja Petra Kamarudin has just passed away at 11.26pm UK time on Monday 9th Sept 2024 in Manchester, UK.
“May Allah swt place him amongst the shuhada and the soleheen,” he wrote on social media.
His death was also confirmed by many netizens on social media.
Born on Sept 27, 1950, Raja Petra ran the Malaysia Today website.
A check on the portal’s Facebook page indicated that the blogger last posted a video on Sept 8.
Wearing dark glasses, and a blue shirt and cap, the blogger had given his views on the recent political development in the country.
Raja Petra used to be a leading member of PKR back in the late 1990s and 2000, and had been held under the then Internal Security Act twice.
The self-exiled blogger, who faced several charges, had been living in the UK since March 2009.
