A 23-year-old woman’s body was found floating near the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) jetty in Kuala Kurau, Bagan Serai on Saturday (Oct 28), according to Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri. The woman’s identity was confirmed by her father at about 6.45pm on the same day.
A post mortem conducted at the Parit Buntar Hospital on Sunday (Oct 29) was unable to determine the cause of death due to the body’s decomposition, Comm Mohd Yusri stated.

“Several specimens have been sent to the Chemistry Department to help with the investigation,” Comm Mohd Yusri added, emphasizing that the case is currently classified as sudden death.
He urged the public not to speculate on the matter out of respect for the family’s sensitivity.
The body was discovered near the Kuala Kurau MMEA jetty on Saturday at approximately 4.45pm. The police had received a report about the missing woman on Friday (Oct 27) at around 10.55am, as she had left home but failed to return. The father lodged a report, and it is worth noting that the woman had thyroid and asthma issues, along with suffering from depression.
