MELAKA: Police in Melaka are conducting an investigation to determine if the decomposed body of a man found at an oil palm plantation in Pulau Sebang is that of a 24-year-old who was reported missing in Tampin, Negri Sembilan on September 9. The state police chief, Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah, stated that they are still awaiting DNA test results in order to identify the victim, who is believed to have died several days before the body was discovered on September 16. A post-mortem examination revealed that the victim had severe head injuries and stab wounds on his body, suggesting that he could have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the plantation. DCP Zainol added that the police received a call from a member of the public who reported a foul stench emanating from the site before the decomposed body was found in an overgrown field at the plantation. The victim’s identity has not yet been established as no documents were found. The police are treating the case as a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
