ALOR SETAR: The body of disabled teenager Muhammad Rosman Rohaidi, 19, who was swept away with his mother by strong currents early Saturday (Sept 28) morning, has been found.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, his body was found at a palm oil plantation.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Senior Supt Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim said the victim’s body was found at about 5.25pm by rescue personnel.

“The victim’s body was stuck in the palm fronds located about 150m from the victim’s last seen location while his mother is believed to have been swept away.

“We (the Fire and Rescue Department), the Kedah Civil Defence Force (APM), and the police have been searching for the second victim, his mother Salmah Mat Zain, 46, where his (Muhammad Rosman) body was found,” he said.

The mother and son were swept away while attempting to wade through the flash floods in Kampung Tanjung Kiri, near Kuala Nerang.

Earlier, Padang Terap OCPD Deputy Supt Mulkiaman Manzar confirmed the discovery of a pair of women’s slippers and one pair of men’s slippers near the scene of the incident.

He said the search operation was focused near the affected area as he believed the slippers belonged to the two victims.

“The low tide allowed the search operation to continue and the boy’s body was found shortly after.

“The operation will continue to find the mother at the search location until 7pm,” he said.

DSP Mulkiaman said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action before being sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Forensic Department in Alor Setar.
