KLANG: The body of a 57-year-old Filipino crewman named Peligres Jaime Langusta has been recovered in waters off Pulau Tengah on Friday (Sept 1).
The Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) deputy director (operations), Maritime Commander Mohd Sharenliza Ghazali, stated that Langusta’s body was found by a maritime patrol at around 9.26 am.
“The body was then taken to the Police Marine base in Pulau Indah and subsequently transferred to Hospital Banting for further actions,” Ghazali said.
An agent from the Eco Galaxy ship positively identified the body as that of Peligres Jaime Langusta, who fell overboard while in the process of lowering the pilot ladder on Tuesday (Aug 29), according to a statement by Ghazali.
Following the discovery of the body, the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was officially concluded at 1.13 pm on Friday.
“Several agencies, including the Marine Police and Fire and Rescue Department, participated in the operation. We urge the public, especially the maritime community, to prioritize safety before engaging in any activities at sea and to be mindful of the weather,” Ghazali said.

Cmdr Mohd Sharenliza had mentioned that the crew of a nearby boat attempted to help by throwing a lifebuoy and life jackets to the victim, but he was unable to grab hold of them.
“The crew members of the other boat also jumped into the sea to assist the victim, but unfortunately, he was swept away by the storm and strong wind,” he added.
