Authorities in Ipoh found the body of a 42-year-old mentally handicapped man who had been reported missing two days earlier. The body was discovered floating in a drain at Jalan Pasir Panjang Kampung Koh, near Sitiawan, on Friday (Dec 15).
The Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah stated that the police received information about the discovery through a report filed by a member of the public at 5 pm on Friday. According to ACP Mohamed, preliminary investigations suggest the victim was found lying face down and stuck in the drain pipe.
The police sought assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department to remove the body from the 4-meter deep drain,” he said in a statement Friday night. He mentioned that the victim’s body has been taken to the Forensic Unit of Seri Manjung Hospital for Covid-19 screening and a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
“The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR). People who have any information about the incident are asked to contact the nearest police station or call the operations room of the Manjung district police headquarters (IPD) at 05-688 6222,” he said. – Bernama
