KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect who sent the fake bomb parcel to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) earlier this month used another person’s identity, says city police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.
He said the suspect also used a courier company to deliver the package.
“Initial investigations revealed that he used someone else’s identity to send the package.
“The person whose identity was misused was unaware of the parcel.

“We are identifying the suspect,” he told a press conference at Brickfields district police headquarters here on Thursday (June 27).
Comm Rusdi said police have obtained CCTV footage of the suspect bringing the parcel to the courier company on June 5.
“The suspect was wearing a face mask, a black jacket and a black head covering.
“We urge those with information on the suspect to contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115999 or the nearest police station,” he said.
It was previously reported that police recorded the statements of several individuals, including Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, in connection with a recent bomb hoax at the ministry.

On June 5, the suspicious package received at ministry headquarters was confirmed to be a fake bomb.
It was made with a PVC pipe and a timer, police said.
The package was brought to the 14th floor at 2.45pm. The bomb squad was then called as well as bomb-sniffing dogs.
Police have advised the building management to set SOPs for packages addressed to the minister.
