This round of matches in the Premier League promises more exciting football after a weekend where three of England’s top-six teams were unexpectedly defeated by lower-ranked opponents. Manchester City, the reigning champions and favorites, lost their perfect record and will now face Arsenal, the team that finished second last season. Arsenal, currently in fifth place, has remained unbeaten this season so far.

Despite having a billion-dollar squad, Manchester United suffered their fourth defeat in the league this season. However, they are expected to bounce back in their match against Brentford, who are currently sitting in 14th place. The Bees’ fans might disagree with this assessment since their team is only two points behind Manchester United in the standings.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, would have been furious after his team was unexpectedly defeated by Wolves. However, such upsets are a characteristic of the Premier League, and even top teams like Liverpool have experienced similar defeats. In Liverpool’s case, their loss to Tottenham was considered a gross injustice, with even the match officials admitting their error.

Manchester City will enter their match against Arsenal with an edge, given their recent dominance in the competition and unrivaled stature in English football. Last season, City overtook Arsenal to claim the top spot, and this season they have been leading from the beginning despite their loss last weekend.

The team will make every effort to maintain their position and potentially extend their lead. Although it is uncertain which players Guardiola will select for the match, key players like Edersen, Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, Mateo Kovacic, Julian Alvarez, and Erling Haaland are expected to feature.

Manchester City’s recent Champions League match against RB Leipzig, in which they secured a comfortable 3-1 victory, is unlikely to negatively impact their performance against Arsenal. Guardiola has a deep squad and employs a rotation system, ensuring that the team remains competitive regardless of fixture congestion.

Arsenal suffered their first loss of the season in the midweek Champions League match against RC Lens, despite initially taking the lead through Gabriel Jesus. Additionally, the injury to Bukayo Saka raises concerns for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who is unsure if Saka will recover in time for the match against Manchester City.

Manchester United’s defeat by Galatasaray has sparked discussions about the future of manager Erik ten Hag. This loss was their sixth in ten games across all competitions, and they currently sit at the bottom of their Champions League group standings. The once iconic Old Trafford stadium is now being called “Theatre of Pain” instead of the “Theatre of Dreams.”
