KUALA LUMPUR: Following a special Bukit Aman CID operation in Klang, over 100 suspected gang members were detained. The operation, known as Ops Khas Aman Phase 1, took place throughout the district from January 15th to Saturday (January 20th).
Led by Bukit Aman CID’s anti-vice, gambling, and secret societies division (D7), in cooperation with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), the operation aimed to target individuals active in two Klang-based gangs, gang-controlled construction sites, and drug dens.
Deputy CID director (Intelligence/Operations) Deputy Comm Fadil Marsus stated that a total of 133 individuals were apprehended, including 120 locals and 13 foreigners, all with ties to the criminal underworld. “The operation also succeeded in disrupting the income sources of the two main gangs operating in the district,” he added.
DCP Fadil revealed that the arrest of gang members was based on existing membership records obtained by Bukit Aman CID through previous arrests. He explained, “Through CID records, we collected intelligence to identify those still involved in criminal activities, such as drug trafficking, before detaining them in Ops Khas Aman Phase 1.”
Additionally, D7 raided 16 construction sites believed to be financial sources for the Klang gangs and three primary drug dens, resulting in the detention of 34 addicts by AADK. Six foreign addicts were also being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for lacking valid travel documents.
The operation was initiated in response to various criminal incidents reported in South and North Klang, including robberies and extortion that gained traction on social media. DCP Fadil emphasized the police’s commitment to addressing all gang-related elements, particularly those involved in extortion, territorial disputes, drug trafficking, and assault.
He urged the public not to fear crime and to share any relevant information with the police, concluding, “We hope this latest effort will encourage the public to collaborate with us.”
