During the Performance and Implementation Management Committee Meeting (Steering Committee) on Friday (March 15), 74 resolutions and 150 programmes outlined by the 10 Bumiputra Economic Congress 2024 Groups were finalized. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who chairs the steering committee, stated that these resolutions and programmes were aimed at achieving socio-economic justice, national sustainability and prosperity, and the people’s welfare.
Initiatives such as the Bumiputra Land Corporation, the Tabung Waqaf Mara Madani, Bumiputra Entrepreneur Generation, and Malay Reserve Land Development were among those highlighted during the Bumiputra Economic Congress 2024 held from Feb 29 to March 2.
During the meeting, it was decided that each group would submit progress reports periodically, with an annual reporting session scheduled for May 2025 to ensure the successful implementation of the resolutions. Ahmad Zahid emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing these resolutions to enhance public confidence in the process.
He stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders in the Bumiputra economy to ensure the effective implementation of the resolutions, highlighting that the true success of the congress lies in these efforts.
At a Cabinet Meeting on March 8, it was agreed to establish a permanent secretariat under the Bumiputra Economic Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, to oversee the thorough consideration of each resolution and ensure their effectiveness. Follow-up actions will be continuously reviewed and monitored to uplift the status of the Bumiputra economy.
Earlier on Friday, Ahmad Zahid led the Steering Committee Meeting with the Bumiputra Economic Congress Group chairmen, elevating the resolutions to be the new agenda for Bumiputra empowerment.
Overall, the meeting emphasized the importance of translating resolutions into effective implementation to achieve the goals of socio-economic justice, national sustainability, and prosperity of the Bumiputra community. The government’s commitment to continuously review and improve the implementation of these resolutions was reiterated to uplift the Bumiputra economy to a better level.
