PETALING JAYA: The Kedah Mentri’s Besar Office has debunked the viral claim that Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor owns a bungalow. In a statement released on Tuesday (July 11), his office clarified that the bungalow in question actually belongs to Muhammad Sanusi’s hardworking brother, who painstakingly built it through his own efforts. The office also emphasized that not a single penny from the Kedah Mentri Besar’s funds were used in the construction.
The Kedah Mentri’s Besar Office expressed disappointment that the viral photo attempted to link the bungalow to Muhammad Sanusi, falsely suggesting that it belonged to him. The statement further highlighted the fact that the bungalow owner had been working diligently for decades, even engaging in underwater diving jobs for several months at a time, saving every penny to provide for his family.
“The husband’s dedication to his work meant being away from his wife and children, even during critical moments such as his wife giving birth,” the statement explained. “While the wife was fighting for her life, the husband was ‘fighting with sharks’ at the bottom of the sea. They have made countless sacrifices as a family.”
The statement also revealed that the viral snapshot, which included a Google Maps image, was an attempt to unjustly connect the Mentri Besar of Kedah to the bungalow. It strongly condemned the spread of such false information on social media, labelling it as slander.
“These slanderers are going to great lengths ahead of the state elections to convince the public that the Kedah Mentri Besar is wealthy enough to build a bungalow,” the statement criticized. It further expressed the Mentri Besar’s sadness at the envy and ill-wishing exhibited by those spreading the slander, questioning whether it was wrong for someone to accumulate wealth after years of hard work and dangerous situations to provide happiness for their loved ones.
Furthermore, the Kedah Mentri’s Besar Office stressed that the owner of the bungalow has no affiliation with politics and should not be subjected to unfair treatment due to his brother’s position as Mentri Besar. It pointed out that most people in Sik are aware that the house belongs to Budin, not Sanusi.
“As a younger brother, Muhammad Sanusi admires his brother’s work ethic, discipline, and determination to improve their living conditions,” the statement acknowledged. It also mentioned that the owner of the bungalow has displayed financial wisdom and property management skills.
“The Kedah Mentri Besar is impressed by his brother’s sacrifices and commitment to family happiness,” the statement added. “We urge an end to this kind of slander, as it only brings about sin.”
