MUAR: Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya, a member of Perikatan Nasional, has urged the newly elected assemblyman of Simpang Jeram to do their best for the people of the state seat. In a Facebook statement, Dr Mazri congratulated Nazri Abdul Rahman of Pakatan Harapan for winning the seat with a majority of 3,514 votes. He emphasized the need for Nazri and Pakatan Harapan to work for the betterment of the people, regardless of their political views or race.
Dr Mazri also expressed his satisfaction with Perikatan’s increased number of votes in the by-election, even though they didn’t secure victory. He believes that the unity of Malays is crucial for the effective governance of the state and country. He added that the people of Johor choose leaders who are clean, caring, and stable.
Dr Mazri extended his gratitude to those who supported Perikatan by voting for them in the election. The Election Commission returning officer, Jamil Hasni Abdullah, officially announced Nazri as the winner of the Simpang Jeram by-election, with a total of 13,844 votes. Perikatan Nasional’s Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya received 10,330 votes, while independent candidate S. Jeganathan secured 311 votes.
