MUAR: Mohamad Faris Zaki, an Election Commission (EC) volunteer, became the last voter at Sekolah Agama Tun Dr Islam, Bakri polling station when voting ended at 6pm. Despite being assigned as an EC volunteer to assist voters since the polling station opened at 8am, Mohamad Faris expressed relief at being able to fulfill both his civil servant duties and civic responsibility by casting his vote for the potential representatives of Simpang Jeram constituency. He had initially thought he would be the earliest voter when he arrived at 6am, but the polling station was already filled with voters by 7.30am. When the polling station eventually opened, he began his duties as a polling officer. Mohamad Faris exercised his right to vote for the fourth time at 5.55pm. However, as a first-time EC volunteer, he had forgotten to register for postal voting like other EC staff. The 28-year-old trader hopes to become an election worker in the future. (Bernama)
