PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet has agreed to extend the contract for Bestinet Sdn Bhd, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said that the decision was made by the Cabinet “weeks ago” and that a special committee headed by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, along with other ministerial and Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) representatives, will discuss the terms and conditions for the management of the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS).

The committee, which has already been formed, will discuss contract terms and build upon new terms to “support several objectives”.

“First, to bring about four principles which is to quicken the application process, to reduce migration cost and aspects for foreign worker welfare in the country and the interests of employers,” he said during a press conference at the ministry headquarters here on Monday (June 24).

Bestinet, the pioneer of an end-to-end platform for the management of foreign workers in Malaysia, was engaged by the Home Ministry to develop, supply, provide and maintain the FWCMS.

The six-year contract ended on May 31, 2024.
