Residents and tourism players in Langkawi are calling on the Federal Government to upgrade the island’s ferry service for the convenience of tourists and to boost the local economy, according to a report by Kosmo!. Tourism is a vital part of Langkawi’s economy, and in order to accommodate the increasing number of visitors, it is crucial to improve the ferry facilities. Mohammad Nabil Ukail Mohd Shukor, a 25-year-old hotel employee, highlighted the importance of enhancing the facilities, particularly for the elderly and disabled passengers. He stressed the need for wheelchair accessibility and other necessary amenities to be provided adequately.
Furthermore, Harian Metro reported that twin brothers, Mohd Hamdi Mohamed Zain and Mohd Hamdan from Kelantan, have found success in the mobile kiosk manufacturing industry. The pandemic forced them to seek an alternative source of income after closing their IT company in Kuala Lumpur. Guided by YouTube tutorials, they transformed the space behind their house into a temporary workshop and invested RM50,000 of their savings in equipment and machinery to build the kiosks.
