BENTONG: Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam is prioritizing aspects of development and the welfare of the younger generation. Amizar, 50, intends to continue the development agenda initiated by the late incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Harun while also addressing issues related to the youth. “I want to focus on the younger generation as many development programs, activities, and opportunities can empower youth in the constituency,” he stated after the nomination of candidates at Felda Kemasul community hall. The Pelangai by-election will feature a three-way contest between Amizar, Perikatan Nasional candidate Kasim Samat, and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli.
Kasim, 63, emphasizes the issue of development, particularly the condition of roads in Pelangai. He hopes to gain support from the youth based on his experience as a former secondary school and vocational college teacher. Haslihelmy, 36, wants to champion the interests of the younger generation, specifically second and third generation Felda settlers. Despite lacking a strong political infrastructure, he is committed to mobilizing efforts for victory.
The constituency has a total of 16,456 eligible voters, with 7,639 voters aged between 18 and 39, according to the Election Commission’s electoral roll.
