MUAR: Two men were injured after their vehicle rammed into a pillar inside the corridor of the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF) in Jalan Salleh, Taman Utama Satu, here.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred on Friday (June 7) at 10.30pm.

“The vehicle was driven by a 30-year-old man who reportedly experienced a seizure, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

“Consequently, the car veered off the road, crashing into the hospital building and striking a stone pillar in front of the X-ray Department of HPSF,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (June 8).

He added that the driver and his 28-year-old male passenger had just arrived at the hospital from Johor Baru to deliver medical equipment.

“Both of them sustained injuries, and they were promptly taken to the emergency department of the HPSF for treatment.

“We have opened an investigation paper on this incident; the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.

“We would like to advise the public to always drive safely and adhere to road regulations. Avoid driving in an emotionally unstable state and take a break at a safe location if necessary to prevent unwanted incidents on the road,” he added.

Meanwhile, Johor Health Department director Dr Mohtar Pungut@Ahmad said both individuals were treated at the Emergency and Trauma Department of HPSF and were confirmed to be in stable condition.

“The driver was admitted for observation, while the passenger sustained minor injuries and was discharged after receiving treatment.

“The department also confirmed that no members of the public, patients, or HPSF staff were involved in the accident,” he said, adding that a police report was lodged by the HPSF Muar management on the same day.

Dr Mohtar added that the affected corridor has since been reopened.

“The damage caused by the incident has not impacted the primary functions of the area.

“However, the HPSF Muar management is currently assessing the extent of the damage and the cost required for repairs,” he said.

Earlier, a 19-second video was posted on X showing a white vehicle driving straight into the main lobby of HPSF.
