Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) is organizing the “MBSJ Merdeka Madani” program to foster patriotism among the community and school students in conjunction with National Day Month. The program aligns with this year’s National Day theme, Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope), according to MBSJ’s corporate and strategic management department.
Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali, the deputy mayor of Subang Jaya, launched the programs after MBSJ’s last full board meeting. He stated, “We hope the programs will encourage city folk to embrace the spirit of National Day and foster unity among various races.”
The first program, Kuiz Komuniti Merdeka, consists of four quizzes. Each series will have five winners who will each receive RM100. The questions will be posted weekly on MBSJ’s social media platforms.
Another program titled “Pertandingan Lagu Patriotik Generasi Bestari MBSJ 2023” is open to primary and secondary school students in areas under MBSJ’s administration. Participants must sing a patriotic song of their choice. Cash prizes totaling RM1,850 per school category will be awarded, ranging from RM500 for first prize to RM150 per consolation prize. Additionally, a popular video award of RM200 will be given to the video with the most likes.
Flag-flying through the Kempen Kibar Jalur Gemilang program is open to all communities under MBSJ’s jurisdiction. However, registration must be done through the area’s Residents Representative Council (MPP). The program has three categories: housing areas, traditional villages, and apartments. Cash prizes totaling RM2,500 will be awarded per category, ranging from RM1,000 for first place to RM250 for consolation prizes.
MBSJ also urges owners of business premises, government buildings, private properties, and residential houses to fly the Jalur Gemilang flag. For more information, visit www.mbsj.gov.my
