BENTONG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that there are some parties who want to break up the unity government due to their jealousy towards the coalition’s strength.

Anwar, who is also the chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), said that this is because the cooperation between PH, Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has resulted in a solid coalition.

“Why must they break us up? It is because they are jealous. How long has it been since we had this kind of strength in the country? So there are efforts to break this coalition,” Anwar stated.

“But, the important thing is that this unity government remains stable for us to boost the economy, attract foreign investment, and ensure the well-being of the people.

“Even investors have confidence in the unity government, so we should not destroy or damage it. If you want to create trouble, wait four more years,” he added.

Anwar made these remarks during his speech at the Ceramah Mega Perpaduan Madani event held at Dataran Simpang Pelangai in conjunction with the Pelangai state by-election on Monday (Oct 2) night.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Pahang BN chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, and BN candidate for the Pelangai state by-election Datuk Amizar Abu Adam were also present at the event.

Anwar further emphasized that the unity government’s spirit of togetherness not only ensures political stability but also leads to clear policies for the country’s development.

He highlighted the achievements of the unity government in the nine months it has been in power, including the successful implementation of the Madani economic policy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), and the presentation of the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP MTR).

“Even this year, our investments have reached historical highs, and it’s not even the end of the year yet,” Anwar stated.

Meanwhile, Anwar expressed confidence in BN’s ability to retain the Pelangai state seat.

“Looking at the large turnout today, I am confident that BN can easily win. The state and federal governments are united, and the Pahang government has taken good care of the state. Therefore, we should vote for the BN candidate as a vote of confidence in Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy’s leadership in Pahang,” he said.

The Pelangai state by-election on Oct 7 will witness a three-cornered clash between Amizar, Perikatan Nasional candidate Kasim Samat, and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni. – Bernama
