Imran Azim Iskandar, a student in Form 5, was warmly welcomed at Sibu airport, after representing Sarawak and the country at the World Championship of Performing Arts in the United States.
The teenager was met by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng, his school principal Abdul Rahman @Nicholas, and his family members.
During the event held in Anaheim, California, Imran Azim excelled in multiple categories, becoming the world champion in the classical category and securing silver medals in the contemporary and original works categories.
Additionally, he earned bronze medals in the jazz and open categories.
Chieng expressed his pride in Imran’s accomplishments and stated, “We now know that Sarawakians can be world champions as long as we are willing to learn, study, and train hard.”
Chieng promised to reward Imran for his achievements and praised him as a role model for other young individuals.
“I will visit Imran’s school, SMK Bukit Assek, to announce the incentives from my side,” Chieng declared.
