The BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence (BRCR) located in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, can now enjoy the benefits of clean energy, thanks to a collaboration between EFS Revision Energy Sdn Bhd and the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RCKLD). The joint effort led to the successful installation of a solar PV system at the home, which has resulted in a 40% reduction in electricity bills. With 70 abandoned and vulnerable children under their care, this development is a significant accomplishment.
Honorary adviser Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye highlighted that the project’s goal extended beyond harnessing solar power. He emphasized that it also served as a testament to EFS’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility, as well as promoting the spirit of volunteerism. Furthermore, EFS demonstrated its support by sponsoring RM50,000 to the home to aid in its operations.
Datuk Chan Kam Fatt, the exco chairman of BRCR, was duly recognized for his dedication and personal contribution of RM20,000 to the solar project during a simple ceremony. The fundraising efforts of RCKLD president Amir Izwan and past president Ajit Johl were also acknowledged for their valuable contributions.
The children showed their gratitude by presenting handicraft items to the key representatives of the solar project. Chan expressed his delight, mentioning that the children made these handicraft items using machines powered by the newly installed solar PV system.
