MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong expressed his hope that his “comrades” would have the wisdom to select a candidate who consistently advocated for moderation. This statement was made by the former Transport Minister and Ayer Hitam MP in a Facebook post after his visit to the Pulai MCA division on September 3. Dr Wee specifically thanked Wanita Chief and Pulai Division Chairman Wong You Fong for organizing an interaction session for the division’s members.
The importance of upholding the value of moderation in Malaysia and striving for economic stability for national development was emphasized by Dr Wee to the members of the division. He confidently believes that his comrades will possess the discernment to choose a candidate who always champions moderation. Additionally, Dr Wee mentioned that Pakatan Harapan candidate Suhaizan Kayat had also met with MCA leaders from the Pulai division and received their blessings.
During the visit, prominent figures such as Johor executive councillor and Yong Peng state assemblyman Ling Tian Soon, Pekan Nanas state assemblyman Tan Eng Meng, MCA central committee member Tan Tuan Peng, and Johor MCA Secretary Datuk Ng Keng Heng were present. The by-election for the Pulai parliamentary seat and Simpang Jeram state seat was necessitated by the passing of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who previously held these positions.
Pakatan’s Suhaizan is facing a three-cornered contest in the by-election, contending against Perikatan’s Zulkifli Jaafar and Independent candidate Samsudin Mohamad Fauz.
