City commuters are experiencing heavy traffic on various major highways as they return to work following the extended Christmas holiday. As of 5pm, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has reported congestion after the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza heading towards the city centre.
According to an LLM spokesman, traffic flow is slow northbound at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza and in both directions at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza due to a high volume of vehicles. A stalled trailer on the North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite) at KM31.4 northbound from the KL International Airport to Putrajaya is obstructing the left lane, as reported by A PLUS on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
Additionally, traffic is moving slowly northbound from Pedas/Linggi to Port Dickson (North) and from Slim River to Sungkai. The East Coast Expressway (LPT) is also facing slow traffic, with a one km congestion before the Gombak Toll Plaza heading towards Kuala Lumpur, as reported by Bernama.
Commuters are urged to plan their journeys and consider alternate routes to avoid the heavy traffic on these highways. Stay updated with traffic reports and consider travelling during off-peak hours to reach your destination safely and in a timely manner.
